    About this website

This website provides all the features to run regional squash leagues as well as club boxes and the entry of tournament results. By doing so it can calculate and maintain player levels for everyone who plays in the league, club boxes and tournaments.

    Feel free to look around.

    The principles are:

    • Provide significant automation for the running of leagues, boxes and tournaments and easy access to the data for everyone concerned. Responsibilities are spread across all parties so it doesn't all fall on the league secretary to do everything.
    • Eliminate paper and/or the sending/posting of results. Everything is online.
    • Club admins are responsible for maintaining their club information including defining the teams playing for the club, who the captains are, their contact details and what options they have for playing matches in terms of numbers of courts and available dates.
    • Team captains are responsible for entering and checking the match results.
    • The league secretary is responsible for setting up the league by defining the divisions within the league and the teams that are playing within each division and then generating the fixtures from the system.
    • The system maintains all the details including team results, division tables, team and player history.
    • The system assists by generating the fixtures, calculating player levels, team levels, grades and player rankings. It also (optionally) checks for rule infringements automatically awarding penalties if appropriate.
    • Multiple independent leagues can be run.
    • Support for other match based events such as tournaments and boxes.
    • Provide a consistent player level system allowing players to compare themselves across the league and also across leagues and even other regions who are using this system.
    • The system is largely self-managing.

The system has the following features:

    • All screens offer access to league data, tables and all features via pull-down menus.
    • Home page for news updates, advertising and useful links such as clubs and coaching pages.
    • Boxes - clubs can run boxes with the match results included in the player histories and level calculations of the main league. This allows non-league players to have a player level assigned giving them a good guide as to how they'd fair in the leagues and which teams would be most appropriate for them.
    • Rankings and player levels - various player level based rankings are available. Player levels are extremely useful as they provide an actual number relating to the playing level or standard of each player. They show how someone is playing at any point in time allowing accurate assessment of which team they should play in, how they have progressed over time and what sort of game they would have over another player. Rankings can be shown for the leagues, divisions, juniors and even team averages. Most improved players and result prediction calculators are also available. See the 'ranking explained' link for details.
    • Player level calibration - player level averages for the all league players are maintained allowing different systems to be aligned. This provides a way of comparing players across regions as long as they are using the this system.
    • Fixtures and results for clear listings of who is playing who and what the results have been.
    • Tables for the full list of how the teams are fairing within each division in the league. Points for and against are shown along with the current totals and any penalties awarded.
    • Forums to allow players to bring up topics for discussion or comment. Forum articles and replies are automatically emailed to those who have signed up.
    • News articles for everyone to be aware of. These are also automatically mailed to those who have sign up.
    • Results are entered directly by the home team captains allowing immediate update of league tables and player levels. Any disputes that the away team captain may have can also be entered for instance if the results have been entered incorrectly. Disputes are emailed to both team captains and the league secretary for fast and clear communication.
    • Automatic rule checking along with penalties and compensation. Every night the results are checked against important league rules to catch any teams who are playing just a little 'too' hard. This includes players playing for more than one team, players playing significantly out of order and results that are long overdue being entered. If any infringements are found, the appropriate captains and the league secretary are mailed with a summary allowing all parties quick notice and the chance to do something about it. The league secretary can use these mails to focus in on the infrignements rather than spend considerable amounts of time checking hundreds of results. Note that the league secretary has full control over any penalties or compensation points from turning them all off to overriding each one individually. Disputes over results are also mailed out to the captains and league secretary.
    • Various documents are available online from the rules to joining instructions to site information etc.
    • Site visit statistics are also available in barchart form. You can see just how many pages are being viewed.
